Future Vision: Path of the Coming Century

Part 12: RSS Centenary Sankalp Blog Series

🇮🇳/🇬🇧

RSS Future Vision

“Uttarayanam Dakshinayanam cha yogamayaahuh” – The movement of the sun in northern and southern solstices is called Yoga. Time is ever in motion, and with every sunrise, new possibilities emerge.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has completed its first century and now stands at the threshold of its second. The Bengaluru 2025 Centenary Sankalp Patra is not merely a declaration for the present but a roadmap for the next hundred years. When it says, “To build a harmonious and organized Hindu society for global peace and prosperity,” it lays down a comprehensive Future Vision.

Learning from the Past, Preparing for the Future

In this blog series, we traced the journey from Dr. Hedgewar’s founding vision (Part 1) to the global ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (Part 11). Now, we turn to the Future Vision—a long-term framework for the coming century.

Lessons of the First Century (1925–2025)

  • The power of patience and long-term vision
  • Priority of character-building
  • Nation-building beyond politics
  • Importance of organization in times of crisis

Emerging Challenges of the 21st Century

  • The dilemma of artificial intelligence and human identity
  • Severe consequences of climate change
  • Erosion of cultural identity
  • Rising global economic inequality

Roadmap: 2025–2050

First Decade (2025–2035): Institutional Strengthening

Focusing on branch expansion (Part 3) and qualitative development (Part 4).

Goals:

  • Establish shakhas in every village and town
  • Full integration of digital tools
  • Greater youth engagement
  • Expansion of women’s organizations

Institutional Growth:

  • Modernized training centers
  • Permanent branch facilities
  • Libraries and study centers
  • Digital resource hubs

Second Decade (2035–2045): Social Transformation

Carrying forward Social Renewal (Part 6) and Five Transformations (Part 7).

Objectives:

  • Broad-based social harmony
  • Integration of values into education
  • New models of economic justice
  • Cultural renaissance

Transformation Outcomes:

  • Practical eradication of caste discrimination
  • Balanced rural-urban development
  • Widespread eco-friendly lifestyle
  • Modern use of traditional knowledge

The Role of the Indian Diaspora

The Future Vision emphasizes the growing role of the diaspora. In the past, they preserved Indian values abroad; in the future, they will become active contributors to global transformation.

Future Diaspora Contributions:

  • Preparing the next generation for global leadership with Indian values
  • Strengthening branches and cultural forums abroad
  • Serving as bridges of technology, education, and culture between India and host nations
  • Amplifying India’s voice in global policymaking

Thus, the diaspora becomes the bridge between social transformation and global leadership.

Global Faith Dialogue and the Sanatana Perspective

In the West, “interfaith dialogue” is considered a solution to religious conflict. Sanatana Dharma offers a deeper view.

The Sanatana Position:

  • Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam sees all as one family—no special dialogue is required.
  • Within Sanatana, countless paths exist—Bhakti, Jnana, Yoga, Karma, Advaita, Dvaita—coexisting without conflict.
  • Atheists, Arya Samajis, idol-worshippers—all are part of the same family.

Thus, what others call “interfaith dialogue” is for Sanatana simply a way of life.

Future Global Challenges:

  • Other societies still struggle with intolerance, testing India’s model of coexistence.
  • Narrow debates elsewhere will limit the idea of coexistence, while India will demonstrate it as a living reality.
  • RSS’s Future Vision: once the family feeling is embraced, dialogue becomes a natural expression of life.

Third Decade (2045–2055): Global Leadership

When the ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (Part 11) is realized fully.

Vision:

  • India’s global spiritual leadership
  • Central role in world peace
  • Universal acceptance of Indian values
  • Practical realization of Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah

The Beginning of an Eternal Journey

As seen in this series (Part 1 to Part 11), the Sangh’s journey is continuous. The centenary is not closure but a new beginning.

The five goals of the Bengaluru 2025 Sankalp Patra—branch expansion, qualitative improvement, virtuous strength, social transformation, and five transformations—are not limited to the present. They are the foundation for the Future Vision of the next century.

Three Eternal Pillars of Future Vision:

  1. Dharma-based life
  2. Harmonious and organized society
  3. Global welfare through Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam

And with vigilance against technological and cultural upheavals, this vision remains both hopeful and realistic.
